Zizzazz is an explosive energy powder that you can mix into any type of drink you want! And we mean anything water, lemonade, iced tea… vodka… Mostly water though, but this stuff is good and really does mix well with anything. But we are getting off subject, Zizzazz is a Las Vegas based company and was in need of a bright and eye catching website. Well what better place to recreate than Las Vegas strip at night! With that in mind we developed the website you see below while still trying to incorporate the clean and crisp side of web, which Las Vegas doesn’t always have, especially in the wee hours of the morning.

When T.A.D. (Tactical Athlete Developemtn) needed a new and bold way to define themselves from the other hand and gun combat training course in AZ they knew the only was to accomplish that was to right to Design Elements. After researching the company, interacting with the instructors and taking a couple courses ourselves we knew that T.A.D. was different from the start. They oozed a sense of class and elegance in the way they handle their training which, in most handgun training course, is lost. And not the stuck up class and elegance that you may be thinking of, but rather the confident ad “sure” class and elegance, the kind that is transferred to you by just being around it. We needed to design something that captured this essence. We accomplished capturing this essence with a clean, crisp shoot of a SWAT member over layed with extremely classy yet inviting type faces. Since there was so much information to get across we decided to let the type itself control the over all layout. What came out was a poster that says, “Yes I would like to fire off a grenade launcher an even though I never have, I know I can.”

So this last fall our very own Quinton Larson was accepted into Art Center College of Design in Pasadena out in California and has been cranking out works left and right. We thought it’d be nice to feature some of his works on our site. We particular love the drunk and hungover Elvis baby, that baby sure knows how to party! As he told us this isn’t even half of the work he has been developing these last 9 week. Apparently there is still 6 more weeks left in the term, so be expecting more pieces up in a couple months!

Tactical Athlete business/website

Tactical Athlete Development, or T.A.D. as we prefer since we get tongue tied easily, bestowed upon us the honor of building their company website for them. They wanted something very clean yet bad ass at the same time. And something extremely user friendly since the majority of their clientele would be those on the less “technological” savvy side.

One of the most important items we added to T.A.D.’s site was an online schedule of upcoming classes.

Maximum Fitness business/website

Maximum Fitness needed a complete site redesign, badly. After spending some time in the gym banging the weights around, and talking with some of the locals of the gym we realized that this gym was extremely community oriented. With that fresh in our minds we started developing the design idea behind their website. We knew that once the user hit the main page we wanted them to feel the old school gym feeling that has been lost amongst the “health clubs” of today. But at the same time wanted to integrate the feeling of belong to a long standing family tradition that represented this gym so much.

We decided to use a lot of photos in their website to really achieve the feeling we wanted. We decided to make the layout semi-social network looking in order to capture that community feeling. And we used the gym’s trade mark bright red to accent import info throughout the site.

Q Larson blog/portfolio

Q Larson came to us with only a couple of ideas in mind. He wanted something that integrated a 3D atmosphere and feeling, and wanted to some how work in Leonardo da Vinci’s backward handwriting into the site. SO with those two ideas we hit the drawing pads. We came up with exactly what he wanted and then some.

[design elements] is in talks with Durso Boxing to help create and launch a series of flyers, cards, and informational packages to promote the weight loss side of their services.

Durso boxing has been helping people shred extra unwanted poundage while at the same time teaching people how to box and defend themselves for 10 + years. They have recently decided to make two separate entities to represent all the different services they have to offer.

Bag Central Station web/non-profit

Bag Central Station is non-profit organization who provides a bag recycling program which was introduced in Phoenix, AZ in 2007 and provide information on recycling plastic bags in the valley. BCS approached [DE] and asked us to design a site for them. They were looking for something very clean and easy, with the dominant request of focusing on information exchange. We whipped out a few designs for them, can you guess which one they chose?

Tactical Athlete Development brand/business

Tactical Athlete Development is a company with over 15 years of Police and SWAT experience. They specialize in training camps in every aspect of “enforcement” such as hand gun training, hand to hand combat, proper use of lethal and non-lethal force, and so on and so forth… and you thought you had a tough job sitting behind a desk.

Since we are a force to be reckoned with in our own field T.A.D. choose [DE] to create a new and exciting design and approach to launch their series of police combat training camps. T.A.D. did something that only happens once in a blue moon, they gave us 100% complete creative control and say… yeah I know you can pick your jaw up off the floor now.

T.A.D. was extremely heavy with the information they want to get across in one flyer, so we decided to let the “general design ideas” take a back seat on this project. Instead we used space and type it self (typography) to create they layout and design of their flyer. By using different kerning (letter-spacing) and font-sizes for emphasis points, and a couple of borders, we created a a fluid yet structured and organized layout. By our extreme pickyness of fonts and our too cool for school SWAT image we created an addicting design that grabs the viewers eye and makes they pay full attention to what it has to say.

Callie Carson web/portfolio

Callie Carson teamed with Design Elements to create a classy and curiosity invoking layout and design for her website. Callie Carson is a successful actress out in Los Angeles who is fresh and classy with a strong one two punch in acting, but at the same time she is very deep and has about as many layers as a onion (a good smelling one). She needed a portfolio to mirror just that.

With her classic looks we honed in on one photo which became the inspiration for her website. We decided to go with a very minimalistic almost retro magazine style layout, with small splashes of 1980′s retro accent colors across the site. With the design we wanted to make sure and not pull too much attention away from the real purpose of the site, Callie, but at the same time we wanted to make the site maze like with bits of information popping up a little at a time to pull the viewer in further and deeper into the rabbit hole.

With the beauty and talent that is Callie Carson her photos added the necessary pop to the site that makes her site unforgettable.
